John Legend helped organize a rally for U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown at Cure Coffee and Cocktails in Columbus. The event took place on October 27 at the location on 154 N 3rd St. The gathering featured speakers from Brown’s campaign and local Ohio organizations. The Ohio State University African American Voices Gospel Choir provided musical entertainment for attendees.
Legend, who grew up in Springfield, Ohio, arrived during the event. He worked behind the scenes to assist Cure Coffee and the Brown campaign team with organization. The singer greeted people in the room and addressed the upcoming election. He discussed the role of grassroots rallies and community investment in local elections.
The rally occurred during the Ohio midterm campaign season. Attendees included members of the local community and campaign staff. Legend’s presence added a celebrity element to the political event. He remained in the city to support further campaign activities.
Later on October 27, Legend participated in the coffee shop’s 45 Alive event. He played music alongside DJ Prime, a vinyl spinner. This performance served as a separate social engagement from the political rally held earlier in the day.
Voting in the Ohio Midterms is currently underway. The final day for early voting is November 1. The General Election is scheduled for November 2. Polling stations will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on that day.
