Eric Bauza, the voice behind Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, died Sunday at the age of 46. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner attributed the cause of death to hypertensive cardiovascular disease. Bauza’s manager, Judy Coppage, confirmed the news and described the actor as a unique and versatile talent who was loved by everyone he worked with.

Born in Canada, Bauza spent 15 years at Warner Bros. Animation. During that tenure, he provided voices for dozens of characters in the Looney Tunes franchise. His credits included Porky Pig, Pepé Le Pew, Marvin the Martian, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn, Tweety Bird, and Road Runner. He also voiced characters in the recent Space Jam film starring LeBron James.

His work extended beyond the Warner Bros. studio. Bauza is credited with roles in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Puss in Boots, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Woody Woodpecker, Bob’s Burgers, and Teen Titans Go!. His IMDb page lists more than 400 acting credits.

Channing Dungey, chairman of Warner Bros., and Bill Damaschke, president of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, released a statement honoring Bauza’s impact. They noted that he brought joy to millions and followed in the footsteps of Mel Blanc, the original voice artist for the franchise. Dungey and Damaschke called Bauza a treasured part of the animation family and expressed condolences to his loved ones.

Bauza received three Children’s and Family Emmy Awards in 2022, 2023, and 2025. He was nominated for a fourth award in 2026. He also received five Daytime Emmy nominations between 2016 and 2021. In an interview with CBS LA in August, Bauza discussed his latest film, Coyote vs. Acme.

During that interview, Bauza credited Mel Blanc as the blueprint for the characters he voiced. He described the roles not just as voices but as personalities familiar to audiences for 90 years, comparing them to oldest family members. Bauza stated that Bugs Bunny was his favorite character to voice, though he said he felt more like Daffy Duck as he aged. His family posted a brief statement on his Instagram page and indicated that more details would follow later.
