Real Madrid defeated Racing Santander 3-0 on Sunday.
The visitors secured the result on the road to remain in third place in La Liga.
A minute of silence preceded every match this weekend to honor victims of a deadly train accident in Spain.
Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 11th minute after winning a penalty.
He was fouled in the box before converting the spot kick himself.
The goal gave Mbappé 12 league goals this season.
Jude Bellingham added the second goal just before halftime.
Mbappé provided the assist for the midfielder.
Yan Diomandé finished the scoring with a powerful shot before the break.
Jose Mourinho told reporters the team could have won by a wider margin.
He described the result as a good victory during an important week.
Mourinho said he was thinking about the Champions League match against AEK Athens on Wednesday while managing his lineup for Sunday's game against Racing Santander. He called the win a gift from the league because it allowed him to rest players who would start on Wednesday. He added that Spanish football wants to see local teams win and that he would test four or five changes in the upcoming fixture. The Madrid squad sits one point behind Atletico Madrid and three points behind leader Barcelona. Mbappé apologized on Tuesday for comments in which he appeared to call Mao Zedong a dictator. The remarks drew criticism and cost him brand deals with Chinese companies. That apology came one day after he finished second in the Ballon d'Or voting behind Harry Kane of Bayern Munich. In other Spanish action, Getafe came from behind to beat Sevilla 3-1. Martin Satriano assisted Enes Unal for the equalizer and then scored himself. Orel Mangala added a third goal in the final minutes for the Getafe side.
