Jameson Williams caught a seven-yard touchdown pass from Jared Goff with 4:35 remaining in the fourth quarter to secure a 19-15 victory for the Detroit Lions over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday in Detroit. The final score ended the Vikings' win streak that had spanned eight games, marking their first defeat since a loss at Seattle on Nov. 30, 2025.
The result improved Detroit's record to 5-2, while Minnesota fell to 6-1. The Lions have won their last three contests, including both of their division games this season. For the Vikings, the loss capped a game where their defense, typically among the league's best, allowed Detroit to score in three separate quarters.
Jahmyr Gibbs powered the Detroit offense with 153 rushing yards, including a 30-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Goff completed 18 of 25 passes for 176 yards and threw his first interception of the season. On the other side, Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray went 17 of 29 for 210 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Minnesota's ground game stalled, totaling just 81 yards.
The scoring began in the first quarter when Jake Bates kicked a 25-yard field goal to give Detroit an early lead. The Vikings responded in the second quarter when Kyler Murray completed a one-yard pass to Justin Jefferson. Detroit regained the lead late in the half after a diving interception by D.J. Reed, followed by a 37-yard field goal from Bates to close the half at 7-6.
The game turned in the fourth quarter when Murray connected with T.J. Hockenson on an eight-yard pass and then completed a two-point conversion to Jordan Addison, putting Minnesota ahead 15-12. The lead did not last as Goff found Williams for the decisive score.
Injuries affected both rosters during the game. Vikings safety Theo Jackson left with a quad injury. For Detroit, linebacker Jack Campbell was carried off on a backboard with a neck injury in the fourth quarter. Safety Brian Branch and edge defender DJ Wonnum were evaluated for concussions after a collision late in the second half and did not return.
The Vikings will host the Buffalo Bills on Monday, Nov. 9. The Lions travel to Miami for their next game on Sunday.
