The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County will open registration for its annual Toy Shop on Monday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m. The program is free and serves custodial parents, guardians, caregivers, foster parents, and grandparents in the county who have children age 12 and younger. The registration link remains active through Nov. 29.
Participants can also sign up in person at select Salvation Army locations on Milwaukee’s North and South Sides. The organization notes that specific dates and times for these in-person sessions vary by site. Those registering on behalf of another person must provide their own ID, a letter of permission from the primary caregiver, and a reason for the proxy registration.
To qualify, families must show proof of ID, residence, and the child’s age. The Salvation Army encourages adults to register without bringing their children to the appointment. The organization has listed eligible documents on its website to help families prepare the necessary paperwork.
The toy distribution itself is scheduled for Dec. 15 through Dec. 18. During this four-day window, families will select toys for their children. The program is designed to alleviate financial strain on households during the holiday season by providing items at no cost.
For additional details, residents can reach the outreach team at outreachmke@usc.salvationarmy.org. The registration period closes on Nov. 29, giving families nearly a month to secure a spot before the holiday rush.
