Liverpool and Arsenal face off as Champions League schedule cuts Sunday's Premier League action to one match
Aston Villa's trip to Barcelona forced a fixture change, leaving the Liverpool-Arsenal clash as the only Sunday game.

Football fans in the UK have only one Premier League match to watch on Sunday, November 1, due to scheduling conflicts with European competition. The sole fixture on the schedule is Liverpool hosting Arsenal at 4:30 p.m. Arsenal needs just one point in this match to take the lead in the league table.
The quiet Sunday follows a busy Saturday that featured eight games. The final match of the weekend round will take place on Monday night when Newcastle hosts Everton. This limited schedule is rare. It is the second time since May 2024 that a Sunday in the Premier League season has featured only a single match.
The Premier League originally scheduled two games for Sunday, including a 2:00 p.m. start for Aston Villa against Fulham. The league made this decision in August before the official Champions League calendar was released. The new European schedule set a match between Barcelona and Aston Villa for Tuesday, November 3.
League rules generally prevent teams from playing two matches within a 60-hour window. Because Villa was heading to Spain on Tuesday, they could not play on Sunday. The league moved the Villa versus Fulham game to Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at Villa Park. Nicolas Jackson scored for Fulham, and Zion Suzuki conceded an own goal for Aston Villa, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
Other clubs with European commitments are not as affected by the timing. Liverpool and Arsenal both play Champions League matches next week, but both fixtures are on Wednesday. Liverpool travels to Turkey to face Fenerbahce at 5:45 p.m., while Arsenal plays Sparta Prague. Manchester United hosts Roma on Tuesday, which provides sufficient rest after their Saturday loss to Chelsea.
The Saturday results included several decisive scores. Chelsea defeated Manchester United 2-0, and Bournemouth beat Leeds United 2-0. Brentford won 2-0 against Nottingham Forest. Coventry City edged Sunderland 3-1, while Hull City and Ipswich Town drew 2-2. Manchester City lost 0-1 to Brighton, and Tottenham Hotspur beat Crystal Palace 2-0.
