US President Donald Trump posted a second endorsement for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday evening. The message appeared on Truth Social just days before the national election.
In the post, Trump told voters to remember that "Bibi has been an outstanding Warrior Prime Minister." He described his working relationship with Netanyahu as strong, noting that the two leaders had been "winning together." Trump cited Operation Midnight Hammer and Operation Epic Fury as examples of their joint efforts. He closed the message with a direct instruction: "Vote for Bibi Netanyahu for Prime Minister; we have to finish the job that we started!"
The endorsement followed reports that Netanyahu intensified his efforts to secure presidential support earlier that day. Two American sources told The Jerusalem Post that Netanyahu and his allies in Trump’s inner circle increased pressure on the president to issue new statements. One source described the prime minister as showing "signs of political desperation." An earlier report from Axios detailed that the two leaders spoke twice in the previous three days. Netanyahu suggested specific wording for the endorsements and proposed that Trump speak directly with Israeli journalists to repeat his support.
Trump’s message included a warning regarding the potential impact of an opposing election result. He wrote that if Israel chooses "the wrong leader," the United States would have to complete the work itself. The president added, "I'm not inclined to do that." The Jerusalem Post noted that this remark referred to the ongoing confrontation with Iran.
The post combines praise for Netanyahu’s leadership with a direct call to voters. It also outlines the diplomatic consequences of electing a rival candidate. The timing aligns with reports that the prime minister actively sought this specific public backing from Washington as voters prepare to go to the polls.
Israelis will cast their ballots in the upcoming election. The result will determine the next government and its approach to regional security.
